Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk for dairy-free
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream or coconut cream for dairy-free/vegan
  • 1 ½ tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 –2 tbsp keto-friendly sweetener erythritol, monk fruit, or allulose, to taste
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
Optional Add-Ins:
  • 1 tsp MCT oil or unsalted butter for a bulletproof-style version
  • Sugar-free chocolate chips
  • 1 –2 tbsp whipped cream sugar-free
  • A pinch of cinnamon or espresso for flavor boost

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk or milk frother
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Heat-resistant mug
  • Optional: Blender (for extra frothy texture)

Method

  1. In a small saucepan, warm the almond milk and heavy cream over medium heat. Do not boil.
  2. Add cocoa powder, sweetener, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
  3. Continue heating for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture becomes creamy and hot.
  4. Pour into a mug. Add any optional toppings or add-ins.
  5. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious sugar-free Keto Hot Chocolate!

Notes

  • Sweetener Tip: Start with less and adjust to taste. Allulose dissolves best and gives a smoother texture, monk fruit + erythritol tastes sweeter.
  • Extra Creamy Version: Use ¾ cup almond milk + ¼ cup heavy cream.
  • Dairy-Free Version: Replace dairy with coconut milk + coconut cream.
  • For a bulletproof hot chocolate, blend with MCT oil or butter for extra healthy fats and creaminess.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder for a cozy flavor twist.
